Inspection and quality control for steel fabricators

Walk the floor with a phone. Issue the report from your desk.

Photographs, measurements, findings and release decisions become a document-controlled PDF your client can sign.

Compressed before it leaves the phone
A workshop photograph uploads on workshop signal, at full resolution.
Drafts resume on any device
Start on the floor, finish at the desk, nothing re-keyed in between.
Your document format, your logo
Reports print in your house layout with your own document control.

One inspection, three places you work.

The platform follows the order an inspection actually happens in, not the order a form was designed in.

01

On the floor

Select the project, start an inspection, photograph what you see. Descriptions and findings as you go. Save as a draft and keep moving.

02

At the desk

Pick the draft up on a laptop. Complete the checklists and the written report, tie photographs to findings, set the release decision.

03

Out the door

Generate a PDF with your document-control header, checkbox matrices, released items, photographic record and up to five signatories.

What it keeps track of.

Project data entered once, inspections that inherit it, findings that stay open until someone closes them, and the evidence behind all three.

PRJ

Projects

Client, end client, order, job and contract numbers, QCP, drawings, fabricator, equipment class, plus any rows you define yourself. Entered once, inherited by every inspection.

INS

Inspections

Incoming material through to site installation. Drafts that resume on any device, house-format references, duplication for repeat work.

NCR

Findings & NCRs

Acceptance criteria against actual condition, corrective action, responsible party and target date, open through to verified.

PIC

Photographic evidence

Camera capture straight to the project, browser-side compression, descriptions, section grouping and 4, 6 or 9 per page in the report.

Photographs that survive the trip to the client.

A workshop photograph off a modern phone is eight to twelve megabytes. Uploading that over workshop signal fails, and a hundred of them make a report nobody can email.

Fabricata Inspect resizes and compresses in the browser before anything leaves the device, conservatively, and by reducing JPEG quality rather than resolution, because resolution is what makes a defect visible. Weld toes, undercut, porosity and tape graduations stay legible.

Straight off the phone 8.2 MB
After the browser compresses it 550 KB
Quality drops, resolution does not — so undercut, porosity and tape graduations stay just as legible at 550 KB.
  • EXIF rotation applied, so portrait shots are never sideways
  • Uploads run one at a time, so one dropout never loses a batch
  • A 24-photograph report comes out around 3 MB

Steel teams who have to prove what they inspected.

QA/QC inspectors
Working across a workshop floor, a yard and a laptop in the same day.
Fabrication workshops
Releasing work for galvanizing, painting, assembly or dispatch.
Third-party inspectors
Reporting to a client and an end client on the same job.
Project & quality managers
Reviewing findings and approving releases before they go out.

Your client's evidence, handled like evidence.

The questions a QA manager has to answer internally before putting a job in somebody else's system.

Your workspace is yours

Records belong to one workspace and are readable only by accounts in it. That is checked on every database read, not hidden in the interface.

Photographs stay behind the login

Images are streamed through the application every time, so the permission check happens on every view. No link that works forever, for anyone.

Nothing tags along

No analytics, no advertising, no third-party scripts. Typefaces are served from our own servers. Photograph metadata, GPS included, is stripped on upload.

A third party sees one job

An invited inspector gets the project header you shared and the requests addressed to them. Not your inspections, findings or photographs.

The detail is on the privacy page, and we answer email.

Part of Fabricata

One family of workshop software

Inspect sits alongside the Fabricata tools South African fabricators use to optimise their cutting, run their job cards and track their projects. Each one stands on its own, so a workshop can start with the one it needs.

  • Fabricata Cut

    Steel cutting optimisation

Cutting lists, stock lengths, offcuts and traceability. Use warehouse stock and offcuts first, and hand the saw an operator-ready list.

  • Fabricata Flow

    Job cards and workshop tracking

Every job, every stage, from order to dispatch. Printed job cards with a live view of who is on what and what is holding it up.

    Visit Fabricata Flow
  • Fabricata Track

    Project and production progress

Assemblies and parts ticked through each workshop stage, progress in earned tonnes, and a schedule measured against its baseline.
